History of the Process:
The vision for the strategic plan, which was crafted through a School Health Scan in January 2007 and accepted by the task force, is as follows:
All students attending Colorado public schools will have access to quality, integrated school health & wellness services that address the needs of the “whole child” to optimize academic achievement & enhance well-being.
The goals outlined in the plan reflect common themes captured through the Q-Sort survey feedback and numerous task force presentations from panelists including local and state representatives of mental health, substance abuse, oral health, school nurses, psychologists, social workers, students, parents, principals, superintendents, school board members, and school executives.
In addition, input was gathered and incorporated from state leaders at the Colorado Department of Education, Colorado Department of Human Services Division of Behavioral Health, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Colorado Association of School Executives.
