Colorado LINKS for Mental Health
  • The almost 100 behavioral health stakeholders who participated in the LINKS BIG Meeting III engaged in action planning around the three priority areas and learned about behavioral health issues in Colorado from speakers that included First Lady of Colorado Jeannie Ritter, Leslie Herod of the Governor's Office, Dr. Ed Steinberg from the Department of Education, and family and youth representatives!  The information gathered in the breakout groups will be used to inform the next steps of the LINKS Initiative.
  • The Family and Youth Involvement Leadership Group is using the information from the BIG Meeting action planning groups to develop an inventory of training components for boards interested in expanding their family and youth partnerships.

  • LINKS is ready to disseminate an MOU to the statutorily mandated groups in the LINKS Guidebook, requesting that their groups join LINKS is signing a commitment to partnering around the three priority areas, sharing subcommittees when possible, accepting technical assistance to build their capacity to engage families ans youth, and using systems of care values as part of their decision-making criteria.

School Health Services Leadership Task Force
  • The School Health Services Leadership Task Force is conducting a survey of stakeholders in school and health systems on what components are necessary for an integrated, streamlined school health services system. The survey will help inform the development of a plan to guide school health services funding and policies at the state, foundation, and local level!  If you are familiar with the structure and components of school health services, your input in the survey would be of great value to the Task Force.  To take the survey, please go to  http://www.csi-policy.org/research/index.htm  before the deadline of Sunday, June 8th.

Building Bridges for Children's Mental Health

  • Building Bridges is a new federally funded grant recently received by the Colorado Department of Education in partnership with Behavioral Health Services and State Judicial.  Building Bridges is based on the integration of two models, System of Care and Positive Behavior Supports (PBS), with the goal of increasing access to behavioral health services and improving mental and behavioral health outcomes for school aged children and youth.  Building Bridges combines state policy change with local implementation in Mesa County, which will result in a wide range of new tools and technical assistance approaches for communities throughout the state.

Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing

  • The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing is requesting comments on its draft Request for Proposals (RFP) to administer and operate the Colorado Medicaid Community Mental Health Services Program (Mental Health Program).  The draft RFP and exhibits will be published on the Department Web site the week of June 9th at http://www.chcpf.state.co.us/HCPF/web/draftrfp.asp .  The public comment period will be from the date the draft RFP is posted through July 3, 2008.  The Department will host a series of public forums to invite stakeholders to ask questions and provide feedback on the draft RFP.  Meeting times and locations are posted on the Department's website at the URL above.

Colorado System of Care Collaborative

  • The Colorado System of Care Collaborative's June 6th speakers, Bert Singleton and Brie Reinman, will be discussing the Access to Recovery program.  New member orientation is from 9-9:30, and the Partnership meeting is from 9:30 - 11:30, both at the Tennyson Center for Children, 2950 Tennyson Street, Denver.
  • The System of Care Collaborative Gaps and Barriers Committee is seeking your assistance in identifying other state and local groups working on addressing system gaps and barriers related to children and youth behavioral health.  Please contact LisaJansenThompson@aumhc.org if you have information about:
    • State or local groups that are addressing system gaps and barriers;
    • Priority gaps and barriers that are being identified by these groups; and
    • Whether, to the best of your knowledge, system of care values and principles being considered in moving efforts forward.

Project BLOOM

  • Project BLOOM recently received a supplemental grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration that includes revitalizing Colorado's Linking and Aligning project to develop a draft care coordination plan by September 2008 focused on the integration of behavioral and physical health of young children.  Four monthly forums between May and August will engage experts and other stakeholders from across the state in developing subsections of the care coordination model.  The first forum will be held on May 29th from 8:30am until 1pm.
