Colorado LINKS for Mental Health

  • LINKS has produced a short paper on financing strategies, called Successful Principles and Strategies for Integrated Funding to Support Models Like High Fidelity Wraparound.  The paper, or tip sheet, describes principles for integrated funding based on the experience of three Colorado communities with High Fidelity Wraparound.  The principles can be applied by the state and communities interested in integrating funding to support any cross system model. Building Bridges for Children’s Mental Health

  • Building Bridges is pleased to announce the release of a new website: http://www.csi-policy.org/buildingbridges/ .  The website contains resources for school, communities, and student and families to promote the social emotional development and address the behavioral health needs of Colorado's students. Topics or categories include: tools for communities, schools and families, and everyone; policy; research; model approaches / practices; health resources; family and youth involvement; and collaboration.

Colorado Department of Education

  • The Colorado Department of Education’s Prevention Initiatives Unit is hosting a Brown Bag Lunch event on Supporting Positive Youth Development.  The Colorado Youth Development Team will review its latest report on positive youth development.  The report, which is available at www.healthyyouthcolorado.org, shares results and provides recommendations on how state and local programs can incorporate positive youth development strategies in their work.  The Brown Bag Lunch will be on Tuesday, May 4th from noon to 1pm in the 1st floor board room of the Colorado Department of Education’s building at 201 East Colfax Ave. Denver, CO 80203.

Colorado Department of Public Safety

  • CDPS’s Colorado School Safety Resource Center (CSSRC) has several conferences and trainings coming up in the next few months.  Events include a Colorado Safe Schools Regional Training in October, a Youth Suicide Prevention and Intervention Symposium on May 7th; and a National Association for School Psychologists Conference in July.  For more information about any of these events, please visit http://safeschools.state.co.us/training.html  
  • The CSSRC provides consultation, resources, training, and technical assistance to foster safe and secure learning environments, positive school climates, and early intervention to prevent crisis situations.  The CSSRC also has grant information posted on their website at http://safeschools.state.co.us/grantannouncements.html#z1 and a number of modifiable resources on safe learning environments and positive school climate at http://safeschools.state.co.us/Tips,%20Tools%20and%20Templates.html

Colorado Youth Development Team

  • The Colorado Youth Development Team (CYDT) is holding several Community Connections for Change during the month of May.  These community events were developed based on feedback from CYDT's community conversations and trainings in 2009, with the intent of figuring out how to build youth-adult partnerships. 
  • The events will include training by and for youth on effective communication; roundtable discussions for Adults on Youth/Adult Partnership Components & Strategies; a FREE Working Lunch to Share Lessons Learned & Generate Ideas; and a Youth Forum on Connecting Youth Leaders to Have Input & Impact into State Policies and Decisions with the Colorado Youth Advisory Council to the state legislature.
